I. The Fundamentals

What hypnotherapy actually is, whether it works, and what the evidence says, before you commit to anything.

What is hypnotherapy, and how does it actually work?

Hypnotherapy is a clinical technique that guides you into a focused, deeply relaxed state — hypnosis — where the analytical, defensive part of the mind quiets down, and the subconscious becomes more receptive to change. You remain fully aware throughout. It's used to work directly on the patterns, associations, and automatic responses that talking alone often can't reach, whether that's a habit, a fear, or a way of responding under pressure.

Does hypnotherapy actually work, or is it just relaxation?

It works, but not because it's relaxing, relaxation is simply the doorway into your subconscious mind. The change happens because hypnosis lowers resistance to suggestion and imagery long enough to interrupt an old pattern and install a new one. The results depend heavily on the skill of the practitioner and the specificity of the work, which is why generic recordings and one-size-fits-all scripts tend to underperform compared with a tailored, one-to-one process.

Is hypnotherapy safe?

Yes. You cannot get "stuck" in hypnosis, be made to act against your values, or lose control of what you say or do. It's a guided state of focused attention, not unconsciousness. The only real risk is working with an unqualified practitioner, which is why it's worth asking directly about training and approach before you book.

What's the difference between hypnotherapy and hypnosis?

Hypnosis is the state: focused, relaxed, highly suggestible. Hypnotherapy is the clinical application of that state toward a specific outcome: reducing anxiety, breaking a habit, processing an old memory, building genuine confidence. Stage hypnosis, by contrast, is entertainment built on volunteer selection and social pressure, not therapy, a distinction worth making, since it's usually where people's scepticism comes from.

At Yinfinity, I studied an integrative clinical hypnotherapy approach, so you are in safe hands. I use multiple modalities such as counselling studies, coaching, EFT, NLP, EMDR, Rewind Technique, Reiki, breathwork and Family Constellations to make sure you have a healing journey that suits your needs. Sometimes, you may be too stressed to go into a state of hypnosis, so we'll look at different somatic techniques or other modalities to support you and meet you where you are.

I remember when I had my first hypnotherapy session, I needed to go to the toilet; I just got up, went to the bathroom, and my therapist picked us up where we left off. This is what skill is.

How many hypnotherapy sessions will I need?

It depends entirely on what you're working on. A single, well-defined goal, a phobia, a specific habit, can shift in a handful of sessions. Deeper patterns around confidence, relationships, or long-standing anxiety are rarely one-session fixes, regardless of what a script or app promises. At Yinfinity, work is structured around outcomes over a defined arc, not an open-ended subscription.

Is hypnotherapy evidence-based?

Clinical hypnotherapy has a genuine evidence base for anxiety, pain management, habit change, and IBS, among other areas, and is recognised by mainstream medical bodies as a legitimate adjunct treatment. It isn't a cure-all, and any practitioner who frames it that way is overselling it. It's a tool — a powerful one, used well — not a substitute for medical or psychiatric care where that's what's needed.

II. Hypnotherapy and Islamic Faith

I have a lot of Muslim clients. Some are based in my hometown, London, but I have a lot of clients coming to me from Qatar, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Lebanon, Turkey and the UAE. They often search 'how to find a hypnotherapist in Dubai' and end up coming to me for online sessions (which work just as well) instead.

Is hypnotherapy haram in Islam?

There is no single, unanimous ruling, scholarly opinion varies, and this isn't a question we're positioned to settle on your behalf.

The distinction most scholars draw is between clinical hypnotherapy, where you remain fully conscious, in control, and aware throughout, used purely for therapeutic wellbeing and stage hypnosis, fortune-telling, or anything touching the unseen (ghayb), which raises separate concerns entirely.

Many practising Muslim professionals across the Gulf do proceed with therapeutic hypnotherapy after making their own enquiry. If it matters to you, we'd encourage raising it with a scholar you trust before booking, and we're always glad to walk through exactly what a session involves so you can ask that question with full information.

As a practising Muslim myself, who prays 5 times a day and has only done hypnotherapy with a Muslim therapist, there is an abundance of us. I integrate Quranic leverage for my Muslim clients. and meet my non-Muslim clients where they are.

III. Confidence, Performance & Relationships

For founders, lawyers, and executives whose pressure doesn't show up in a diagnosis, it shows up in how they operate. It shows up in their dating life, with their families, how they feel before they go to sleep, the thoughts running through their head in executive meetings... I can go on because that was me.

Can hypnotherapy help with confidence and self-esteem?

Yes, and it tends to work faster here than in most other areas, because low confidence is often just an old, well-rehearsed subconscious pattern rather than a fixed trait. Hypnotherapy for confidence works by locating where that pattern was formed and replacing it with evidence-based, felt certainty, a genuine shift in how you experience yourself walking into a room, a negotiation, or a boardroom.

I'm high-functioning but running on empty. Can hypnotherapy help with burnout?

This is one of the most common reasons professionals come to Yinfinity. Burnout in high-pressure careers is rarely solved by rest alone, it's usually sustained by a subconscious belief that slowing down is dangerous or that your value is tied to output. Hypnotherapy works on that underlying belief directly, alongside practical work on your relationship to stress, so the change holds once you're back at your desk.

Can hypnotherapy help my relationships?

Hypnotherapy for relationships doesn't work on the other person, it works on the patterns you bring into a relationship: how you handle conflict, what you tolerate, what you unconsciously expect to happen. For clients who keep repeating the same dynamic with different partners, this is usually where the real work needs to happen, and it's often faster than years of circling the same conversation in talk therapy alone.

There is a more mystical element that we can go into. Most people who are drawn to me want to learn more about this work. Check out just one of my blog posts on this topic where I broke down a very ancient theory into English in the most comprehensive way on the internet.

Can hypnotherapy help me let go of a past relationship?

Yes. The lingering pull toward someone you've left is often less about them and more about an unresolved emotional loop your mind keeps replaying. Hypnotherapy can work directly with that loop, the intrusive thoughts, the checking, the difficulty moving forward to bring closure at a felt level, not just an intellectual one.

Can hypnotherapy support business performance and decision-making?

Yes. Founders and senior operators rarely lose deals or make poor calls from lack of skill, it's usually fear, perfectionism, or an old scarcity pattern interfering with a clear decision. Clearing that noise is where hypnotherapy for business performance earns its place: not as a productivity hack, but as a way of removing what's actually getting in your own way.

IV. Anxiety, Sleep & Stress

For a nervous system that hasn't switched off in years.

Can hypnotherapy help with anxiety and panic attacks?

Yes, hypnotherapy for panic attacks and anxiety works particularly well because much of anxiety is a learned, automatic body response rather than a purely rational one. Hypnosis gives direct access to that automatic layer, retraining the nervous system's default reaction rather than just managing symptoms in the moment.

I have a whole 4-week programme on this called the Lightning Transformation Process. I am one of a few hundred hypnotherapists trained in this.

Can hypnotherapy help me sleep?

Hypnotherapy for sleep addresses the racing mind that keeps you awake, not just the environment around it. For clients whose sleep problems are really a stress problem in disguise, the 2am inbox replay, the inability to switch off — this tends to be more effective than sleep hygiene advice alone.

Can hypnotherapy help with chronic stress?

Yes. Hypnotherapy for stress and relaxation works on your baseline — the resting state your body returns to between demands, rather than only giving you a tool for the moment of overwhelm. Most clients notice the shift less in any single session and more in how much calmer their default state becomes over a few weeks.

Can hypnotherapy help with fear of flying or public speaking?

Both respond well to hypnotherapy, often faster than clients expect. Specific fears like these are usually tied to one or two originating moments or a single catastrophic thought loop, which makes them well suited to focused, short-arc work rather than months of gradual exposure.

V. Habit & Behaviour Change

For the habits, willpower alone hasn't shifted.

Can hypnotherapy help me stop smoking?

Hypnotherapy to stop smoking is one of the better-researched applications of the technique, and for good reason — smoking is sustained by an automatic trigger-response loop, exactly the kind of pattern hypnosis is suited to interrupting. Most clients need this addressed directly rather than relying on willpower to override an automatic habit repeatedly.

Can hypnotherapy support weight loss?

Hypnotherapy for weight loss doesn't replace nutrition or movement — it works on the relationship with food underneath the behaviour: stress eating, emotional eating, the automatic reach for something sweet at a certain hour. For clients who already know what to do but can't consistently do it, this is usually the missing piece.

Can hypnotherapy help with sugar or food cravings?

Yes. Cravings are often anchored to a specific emotional state or time of day rather than genuine hunger. Hypnotherapy works to disconnect that automatic association, which tends to reduce the craving's intensity considerably rather than asking you to white-knuckle through it.

VI. Birth & Life Transitions

For the moments that ask more of you than experience alone can prepare you for.

What is hypnotherapy for birth, and how does it help?

Hypnotherapy for birth — sometimes called hypnobirthing — trains your body and mind to stay in a calm, low-fear state through labour, which has a direct physiological effect: fear and tension amplify pain, while a calm nervous system allows the body to work as it's designed to. It's preparation, not a guarantee of a pain-free birth, but clients consistently report feeling more in control and less overwhelmed than in a previous birth.

VII. Sessions, Discretion & Location

The practical questions, such as location, privacy, and format, before you commit to working together.

Do you offer hypnotherapy in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Lebanon and Kuwait, or only online?

Both. Yinfinity works with clients across Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Kuwait in person, and online for clients elsewhere in the Gulf or further afield. Many high-pressure professionals actually prefer the online format, since it removes the travel and lets sessions fit around a demanding schedule rather than the reverse.

How confidential is this? Will anyone know I'm attending?

Completely confidential. Sessions are one-to-one, never group settings, and scheduled around your calendar rather than a public waiting room. For clients with a public profile or a role where discretion matters, this is treated as a baseline expectation, not an add-on.

How much does hypnotherapy cost, and is it covered by insurance?

Pricing depends on the structure of work; a single focused session and a longer container programme for deeper patterns are priced differently, and this is best discussed directly against what you're working on. Insurance coverage for hypnotherapy varies by provider and policy in the UAE and Kuwait, so it's worth checking your own plan; we're happy to provide documentation to support a claim where needed.

Do you work in English and Arabic?

Yes. Sessions are held in English or Arabic depending on what you're most comfortable working in; this matters more than people expect, since the words that carry emotional weight often live in your first language.

Most of my Arab clients start sessions in English, would rather I induce them in English, but then start to speak in Arabic once their subconscious takes over. As a British Palestinian who switches between the two, this is my zone. We're good!

What can I expect in a first hypnotherapy session?

The first session is mostly conversation, understanding what you actually want to change, the history behind it, and whether hypnotherapy is the right tool for it before any hypnosis takes place. You'll stay fully aware and in control throughout the induction itself; there's no loss of consciousness, no swinging pocket watch, and no giving up control of what you say or do.
